happy friday!
new boot goofin'
next on the list: boots! back before treasure hunting in thrift stores was the cool thing to do (damn you, hipsters!) i could find cowboy boots all day, every day (is it wrong that i want to say eryday?), but not anymore. they are few and far between, and on the off chance i find a pair, they're not my size. i've done a lot of looking online, but without selling an organ, i can't afford most of them on a tight budget. but the clouds parted and my luck changed, friends, when i won this pair on ebay for $4 with only $7 shipping. that's only $11 for a pair of awesome cowboy boots in a small enough size to fit my dwarf-like feet! i was ecstatic.
i want to come outside...
flojo just makes my heart so happy! lucky for her, i won't be spending much time outside this week as it's supposed to be rainy, and i saw that the high temperatures are only supposed to be in the lower 70's, and even the upper 60's in the middle of the week! WHAT?! i love weather like that because it makes me feel so cozy and snuggly inside reading a book or working on jewelry.
so how was your labor day weekend? ours was good and bad. chris's grandma died on sunday morning, and even though we all knew it was coming, it's always hard to understand or accept a loss. monday was nice though; last month we'd signed up for a marathon to benefit the rachael horton compassionate care fund, which was started after rachael (chris's cousin) and her husband aaron died in an apartment fire in april. it was amazing to see the number of people (over 200) who came out to support rachael's dream and honor her memory. so i guess it's back to jewelry work for me. have a good tuesday!
it's been a crazy, mixed up new year so far.
i'm not really sure where the "shteak and appleshaush" thing came from, but i guess when i was in about 8th grade, maybe earlier, it just became something my dad and i said as a joke. "pop, what did you eat for lunch today?" "shteak and appleshaush." always followed by laughter. so random, and it just never gets old.
anyway, i'll have something more for you tomorrow, but until then, i hope you have a happy tuesday, and i hope your new year started well!
wishlist wednesday...and something silly
From the top: pink meadow necklace by staceywinters, dogwood flower lidded vessel by whitneysmith, lucky feather silver by thepaperapartment, straw purse by thebestthings, beige and blue ruffle by myazaria.
My dad and I have interesting ways of communicating with one another, and this is one of them: talk/singing to each other Barry Gibb style. I even dance while I'm telling him about, oh I don't know, what I had for lunch. It never gets old, and the fact that I think my dad is one of the funniest people on the planet makes it even better!
