new boot goofin'

there are three important parts to this post: flojo, boots, and lieutenant dangle. going in that order, i know that some of you may not know what i'm talking about when i've mentioned flojo before, so please allow me to introduce to you the most beautiful girl/parrot in the world, my sweet flojo, aka dinosaur toes...

she may not always be in the pictures, but you can be sure she's always on my head, or snuggling inside my shirt when i'm typing these posts, editing the pictures, making jewelry, etc. she's my BFF.

next on the list: boots! back before treasure hunting in thrift stores was the cool thing to do (damn you, hipsters!) i could find cowboy boots all day, every day (is it wrong that i want to say eryday?), but not anymore. they are few and far between, and on the off chance i find a pair, they're not my size. i've done a lot of looking online, but without selling an organ, i can't afford most of them on a tight budget. but the clouds parted and my luck changed, friends, when i won this pair on ebay for $4 with only $7 shipping. that's only $11 for a pair of awesome cowboy boots in a small enough size to fit my dwarf-like feet! i was ecstatic.

thanks to one of my favorite crime-fighting fictional characters and his eccentricity, i can't see or wear cowboy boots without wanting to do a little dance, or a little new boot goofin', if you will...

  2. I totally know what you mean about thrift stores. Back in the day, I could find the most amazing stuff and for super cheap! Now everyone and their dog goes there and I can barely find anything unique and if I do, it's way over-priced. It ain't what it used to be, for sure,... y'all. (I'm trying to run with the cowboy boot theme.)

  3. I love Flojo! Love Love Love! and the fact that she is your best friend. I miss LeRoy. He used to crawl up and down my arm all day long. He was about twice as big as miss Flojo, and was bitey, but I loved the shit out of that bird.
Also, I have only owned cowboy boots once in my life. I wore them twice, and felt so strange I never wore them again. I like motorcycle boots and rain boots. But I think it's because im so tall, I just felt weird wearing them. But, those look great on you and I'm happy you beat the hipsters to them. There are no hipsters here, so we get all the good stuff. ;)

  6. Oh my goodness, your little birdie doesnt even look real, she is so pretty. I have small feet too but not as small as yours although my sister in law can still wear kids shoes and she always has a hard time finding boots.
On another note, I cant believe the designer collections for Target actually go on sale in your area. I wish that happened at my target :)

    1. i can still wear kids shoes, which a lot of other people think is great, but it really isn't, because they LOOK like kids shoes! i never understand why there aren't more people that want the designer stuff here, but it works out well for me!

  8. Score!!!!!! I laughed myself silly when you cursed the hipsters! My brother joked that I was one the other day, I told him: firstly, I am too old to be a hipster, secondly I don't look good enought to be a hipster. But really to be labeled one isnt as bad as some of the other subcultures floating around where we live. You would just die if you saw the local peeps who dress top to toe in motocross/UFC branded clothing and drive trucks emblazened with the words "it's mine, not his!"

    1. toni, don't think i'm a dummy, but i swear i didn't realize that people drove around in trucks in australia! but yeah, dressing in full MX get up? that's strange, especially because it's SO hot!

Oh, and I agree, hipsters totally ruined thrifting. And some other stuff.
