i'm kind of in one of those phases where i'm wondering what i even have to say, what i can possibly blog about, and why i even have a blog at all.  it's weird how that happens, and probably next week i'll have a dozen posts in my head!  anyway, i've had this song in my head for the better part of a week, and it seemed like a good starting point for a post...


do you listen to songs and get pictures in your head of people, landscapes, houses, outfits, or anything else that just seem like they belong with that song?  i do.  so i guess this is a different take on a wish list of sorts, but the movie i have playing in my head when listening to this song looks something like this...

so that's what i've got for now.  do you have songs stuck in your head or new items you've added to your wish list?  i find that my wish lists always grow when it's cold or wet outside because i spend more time at my laptop.  oh well, with new seasons come new habits!

gimme, gimme

my birthday is a short 13 days away (the big birthday - 30!!!), so naturally i've been thinking about the hundreds of things i'd like to have. okay, i honestly start thinking about it in february. it's ridiculous. anyway, i've been constantly adding to my mental wish list, and i think i should stop before i mentally spend more money than i'll ever make in a lifetime. a few of my top favorites on said mental wish list are these...

you know, on second thought, with such a large wish list, maybe i should just take up playing the lottery. yes, maybe i will. when you have a birthday coming up, how far ahead do you start making your list? or do you make a list? i guess being an adult and paying bills and doing adult things can be sort of meh sometimes, so that's why birthdays and christmas are still so fun, because those are days you can still celebrate and get excited no matter your age!

romancing the home

happy valentine's day, friends! bwow chicka bwow wow. chris and i don't really do anything for valentine's day - not because we're anti-celebratory people who think hallmark made valentine's, blah, blah, blah, but because we're just happy to eat dinner while watching a movie on the sofa - but i think this year if i were going to celebrate, i'd show my house how much i love it! and what better way to show love than with a gift that keeps on giving? live plants!

as with life, romance, and funerals, i always think it's important to have a sense of humor with your house and things that go in it. a pink giraffe planter, who would've expected that? a little piece of funny from boy-girl tees.

one thing i can't get enough of is any sort of plant that can be propagated so easily you could do it blindfolded and with your toes. enter succulents. i have a little succulent garden on my living room coffee table, but i'm planning to add a few new species like the ones pictured above from succulents galore. and let's face it, what are plant clippings without planters? trashbound. vintage planters from harlow monroe vintage and bombshell bettie's vintage.

first let me say, the weather here is disgusting. it's like a vampire's dream - no sun to be found, and lamps even have to be turned on in the middle of the day. i hate it. i want to see the sun again, and for the love of everything holy, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES AGAIN! who knew a couple days without the sun could be such a nightmare? anyway, since i haven't been able to take any decent pictures to share, and i don't want to go another day without blogging, why not share what i'm hoping will jump in my closet while i'm sleeping tonight?

i love vintage like i love fresh air, clean water, and french fries, but vintage in my size?! JACKPOT. it's so difficult (for me at least, in the store around here) to find vintage in small sizes that will fit me, so when i find gems like these on the internet in just my size, i seriously try rationalizing in my head how i can justify spending that money even though i know i shouldn't. it's terrible, itsn't it? it's probably an illness. anyway, hopefully tomorrow will be sunny so i can take some pictures to share!

please don't hate me, i couldn't help myself - i knew yesterday that i was going to make the theme for today's wish list something along the lines of, "urban ballerina." so if i were an urban ballerina, i.e coming straight out of the dance studio and pretty much walking into a musical where i danced as i was walking through the park, to the grocery store, from the post office, etc., this is what i'd probably be wearing. or, if i wasn't a ballerina but still wanted to look pretty, i'd still wear these things!

so, i have some exciting news. i went down to my mother-in-law's this evening to get four small boxes of things that have been down there since chris and i moved (okay, so we moved three and a half years ago, and yes, i am embarrassed that i still have things that aren't unpacked). i would be lying if i told you that i couldn't open up a small antique store with all the stuff i had in those boxes. apparently i had a thing for knick knacks, and was well on my way to being a legitimate hoarder. a few of the things, sadly, had to be thrown away as they'd gotten broken, a few of the things were wiped off and set out so i could enjoy them, and more than a few of the things are sitting on my dining room table with no home and no future with me. so i may send you something. or better yet, you could just come and take the stuff. it was definitely like antique christmas morning at my house this evening!

wow, i didn't realize until last night that i hadn't blogged since last thursday. i have to say, it was a nice break. don't get me wrong, i really missed getting all of your comments, but sometimes it's kind of refreshing to just step away for a little while and spend that time focusing on something else; in my case, orb necklaces and planning a trip. speaking of trips, i've always kind of wished i could travel somewhere and not take any clothes, but buy my outfits to wear once i get there. i know, it sounds so frivolous, but since i'm a complete NON frivolous person, it would be fun to do just once! i went straight vintage with this wishlist, and i picked things i wouldn't mind having for my upcoming june trip (i'll tell you more about it later)...

let's see... since i last posted, i celebrated my 29th birthday, and i have a feeling i'm going to celebrate quite a few more 29th birthdays because i really don't want to let go of my 20's. i also ate like a 12-year-old turned loose at a carnival, and that includes but is not limited to: three cheese pizza, cotton candy, jelly donuts, french fries, etc. and yes, i'm having serious consumption guilt. so, yeah, i guess aside from eating, i haven't done much of note since we last met! i hope you're having a good week!

i almost forgot that today was wednesday and i was about to show you my latest obsession/project (no, it isn't jewelry-related), but that'll have to wait until tomorrow! my friend cal can tell you, i've been design crazy lately and i've been doing way too much design sponge archive stalking. maybe it's the changing of seasons, or maybe it's because this is my new thing, but all i want to do lately is redecorate - myself and my house! i've even said something to chris about painting a room or two...which was met with silence and a blank stare. anyway, here are a few things i'd love for said redecorating spree!

today's wish list is all about what i can wear. since the weather is changing, it means my outfits should, too, which in turn means i've been looking at more and more style/outfit post blogs. not that i could really replicate what they wear (i'm far too lazy), but i can sometimes get ideas on how to style things that i have. anyway, my point is, when the seasons change, i always find myself wanting a few new things to wear, and it just so happens i wouldn't mind wearing these things...
