A Blogging Resolution Giveaway!

Hi, friends!  I've been thinking about my blog a lot lately - how I've neglected it, and how I've kind of missed it - and I've resolved to do better.  So my first attempt at doing such is a giveaway (because I love free shit, and I think you do, too) of one of the most popular items from my shop!  It's a 'BONJOUR Y'ALL' screen printed canvas tote, and you choose the ink color!

So if you're wondering where 'bonjour y'all' came from, it's from my pop.  When I was about 11 and started taking French, he used to greet me with a hearty, and very southern sounding, "BONJOUR Y'ALL!"  He told me that's what they said in the south of France (he also used to tell me he went to school with MacGuyver [when I was really young and was in love with MacGuyver], that we were related to Peter Jennings [because we had the same last name], etc., and for a while I believed everything).  My dad's kind of weird.

okay, i'm going to warn you now, i'm going in the home decor direction again. i promise you i'm not turning this into a decorating blog because that's way out of my area of expertise, but lately i've just been wanting to change things up in my house! anyway, since none of you have been to my house (but you can come and we'll have a slumber party!), let me tell you that it's been a hell of a lot of work to get it to the point it's at, and we're still not finished! it was completely trashed when we bought it, and we basically had to rebuild or repair everything except the outside walls. to make it simple, we're trying to turn a crack whore into a beauty queen. we still need to replace the kitchen floor, and once we do, chris is going to build an island since it's a large room, and what better to compliment an island than modern bar stools?

my home: continued and finished

i haven't forgotten to show the rest of the pictures i've taken around my house, but they just sort of got pushed aside. anyway, i wanted to show you the rest as i like to finish things i start, but i also tend to get bored of things quickly, that's why i've decided to compile the last three rooms i'm going to share into one post. fair enough? let the virtual home tour commence...

living room:

i have to be careful about what i put in the living room, otherwise that flower loveseat can look kind of grannyish. we actually rarely ever use this room, which i thought was a waste when we first bought our house, but now i kind of like having a nice, quiet room that rarely gets used! the first thing i noticed when i walked in to our house before it was ours was the white mantle in the living room. it was and still is my favorite thing!

kitchen:

there's not a lot to show in my kitchen, because everyone knows what cabinets and appliances look like, so i picked my favorite things. the antique table i got from my friend haley before she moved to california. i've had many people offer to buy it when they come over to visit, but it stays with me! the bird cage light was a gift last christmas, and i still stare at it! the last thing is an old brass turtle that i keep beside the sink to hold my rings. it was a gift from my sweet friend kassi, and it happens to be one of my two favorite turtle trinkets (the other was a gift from a friend, too)! like the rings? you can find them at pretty in pink boutique.

den:

even though my woopie is gone, i'll always have his paw print (with some extra fur). next, my favorite antique bird print, one of my favorite vintage lamps (that nearly electrocuted me, thus forcing me to learn how to rewire a lamp) and little white birds, all on top of the entertainment center. little bird eggs (the ones i focused on are flojo's) and nests. last, a print from one of my favorite artists.

This particular necklace is made from a silver tone .38 caliber bullet casing with a raw chunk of aquamarine; the casing and stone are suspended from a vintage brass chain that I've oxidized to black.

catching up...

Well, to be honest, I don't really feel like blogging because (not to be too depressing or anything) I basically feel like I'm in a big black hole of despair and sorrow, and I'm filled with loneliness to the point it's physically painful, but I have some things that I need to catch up on.

First and foremost, I wanted to thank each one of you who left me kind words and thoughts about the passing of my sweet Woopie. I haven't even received sympathy or support from my own family or long-time friends, and this is the most depressing and difficult event of my life, so again, I thank you.

Second, I haven't forgotten to announce the winner of the city light photography giveaway, I just haven't felt much like blogging (I know I sound terrible, and I try not to let my emotions bleed through to my blog, but I can't help it, so please forgive me).
