thanks a lot, eyes.

i spent part of the morning hammering out some hoop earrings, taking pictures, and enjoying the sound of raining gently falling against my windows. sometimes i get impatient as far as pictures go, and i feel that if i've made a piece of jewelry, i want to hurry up and photograph it so i can get it added to my shop. i should have stopped and thought about it though, because a grey and rainy day doesn't exactly give the best light for photographing things. but i threw common sense to the wind and snapped, snapped snapped...

not only was it a little too dark for decent pictures, but i can't for the life of me get my eyes to work correctly. i'll swear that my subject looks completely in focus, but when i open the pictures on my computer i'm left with a blur so bad it makes my eyes hurt! so hopefully tomorrow the lighting will be a little better along with my eyes. i'm afraid i'm getting old and my eyes are giving out.

so how was your weekend? what did you do? mine started of with me not feeling well (and i refuse to be sick!), then on sunday we headed north to charlottesville where i picked up a few pieces of jewelry that didn't sell from a gallery (and got a big ole check for what did sell!!!), we ate, we did some walking, we went to some old bookstores, and we ate a lot more.

in addition to that, ummm, i cleaned my floors, so that's good. i've run so much my legs ache, so that's pretty good, too. i got outbid on a sweater on ebay just now which isn't good (especially since i bid dirty and wait until the last few seconds so i think no one else will be able to sneak in). and, let's see... i guess that's it. hopefully i'll have some (clear) pictures to share tomorrow!

  1. Urgh I hate when this happens. Although I have to admit the diopter on my dslr had got adjusted in my bag and it took me ages to notice! Hence the blurry photos! I'm such an idiot.

I worked all weekend - didn't start till the evening on Sunday though so hit the town on saturday night and then spent some quality time with the boy. I also bid on (and won) some jeans on ebay. I can't wait for them to get delivered!

  2. Yay for big ole checks! I hate how we have to spell it 'cheque' here, so dumb.

  3. lauren, i'm jealous! i swear i can't seem to win anything on ebay unless i'm the only bidder.

toni, i like your spelling better; along with favourite, colour, etc. oh, and how you say physio where we say physical therapy!

  5. I can't wait to see what you've been making, Danielle. And I'm jealous of your day of uninterrupted jewelry making!

Regarding "cheque"...I think it's a much more elegant way of spelling that word. And I'm a stickler for using "favourite" "colour", etc. and dislike my phone correcting it.

  6. That happens to me sometimes, too, with the photos. They look fine on the camera and then on the computer they're not as sharp as I thought. . . and I have 20/20 vision with my contacts in. (Without them, I'm running at like -400/20 or something like that so maybe I'm not the best person to inspire the confidence that your eyes are fine.) Anyway, I always want to take photos when the weather's shit, too, and then I get upset when they turn out badly. It's like no, duh! Slow ya roll!

  7. oh boy, do i understand this post! the eagerness to photograph a new piece followed by the disappointment when you open the pictures on the computer. from what i could tell they look beautiful ;)

how far do you run these days? i need to start getting in more longer runs and i think that signing up for a half marathon will do the trick.

you're also making me so excited to get back to jewelry. i took a break for awhile because i was so overwhelmed with life but am working on a whole new line for this spring!

  9. I am going to use your aching legs as motivation for me to get my tail into my running shoes. I wish I enjoyed running as much as I do other forms of exercise, cause it's free and can be done anywhere and doesn't take up a whole lot of time (like driving to the gym, finding a parking spot in the middle of a city, etc. does). Congrats on your jewelry sales!
