Black and Roses

Lately I've been painting, and I've had a lot of ideas.  Well, I usually have a lot of ideas, but lately they've been a little more focused which is always nice, because sometimes I feel like they're so varied, it's what my marine dad would refer to as a cluster-eff-you-sea-kay.  I seem to have roses and flowers on the brain, and here's a little bit of what I've been working on...

They're all currently available as prints in my art shop, and I'm having a little sale as well because I've got way too many prints on my hands.  Just enter the code BLOGREADER20 during checkout for 20% off everything in my shop!

I haven't been working on mint, but don't you just love it?!  It's time to replant this mint that's been in my kitchen window, and unfortunately it's going to have to go in a pot that's to big to fit.  Aside from smelling it or adding it to tea, what do you use it in?  And can you juice mint?

  1. Okay, I KNOW you only know that's my underwear because of all your peeping but to paint me in it? The least you could do is come in...

    1. Okay, fine, you caught me. I didn't want for everyone to know it was you because they might think I'm showing favoritism.

  2. girl! the second print down is so rad. all of them are great but that one is my fave. and yes you can juice mint!! make sure to pick the stems out unless you have a real fancy juicer. it's great with cucumberrrrrrs, kale/spinach and apples. maybe a little lemon or ginger. if you're planting the mint outside you should plant it in containers which i'm guessing you already know otherwise it crazy takes over. you can usually separate the clumps though. i don't know if you noticed the pot near my totally dead bed by the stairs - msotly it's dead weeds but there was some mint cropping up. my coworker had it growing all over their backyard when they moved in and gave me a couple of bunches. i just repotted it and did nothing (obviously) and it grows back every year and has seeded so it's growing near our yard. damn i need to clean out my garden.

    1. YES!!! I'm so happy mint is juice-able. I LOVE the flavor and smell of mint, and I think IT would be good to add to juice that maybe isn't quite as flavorful (that's what I do with ginger). I had mint take over once, so I definitely learned my lesson with that! I love it, but not so much when my front yard is a mint jungle.

In response to your comment, yes I do ceramics! I am actually a ceramics major in college right now (currently whipping up my senior show!) I'm glad you love my tea bowls! Maybe we could work our some sort of trade;) I just love everything you make.
