from unknown clutter to bouquet

While I was doing a good old fashioned cleaning out of my desk drawers, I happened upon some felt and I know there is more in my "studio room" closet, but I'm not sure where exactly, and I'm not up for that search! I didn't know what else to do with it, so I made this little bouquet...

You know how sometimes you make something, and you're just not sure if it looks right? Like it would look better if it were exactly the same, but made by someone else? I'm having that problem with this brooch. I can't decide whether or not I like it. Anyone have any other good suggestions for felt projects? I'd love to hear!

    felt - so many options!

    softies
    jewelry
    hair clips/headbands
    garland

and that's just a start... i love working with felt!

  2. i think it looks great...
my felt flowers always look lifeless.

i like to make little felt hearts, fill them with stuffing, sew on vintage buttons, and attach them to gifts.

  3. Kassi, I like the garland idea! Ashlee, your hearts sound really cutes. My gifts usually look lifeless, so I may take that idea for the next birthday I have coming up.

I'm such a creature of habit, so whenever I make something new or use new materials it takes me a little while to get used to it. Maybe after a day or two I'll warm up to the new flowers!

  4. i think this is super cute! i always think of brooches as being kinda glitsy with some sparkle, so maybe you could sew a couple of mini pearls in the middles of some of the flowers...i dunno. i think they're super cute as is.

and as for felt projects, i can't sew, but i really want to make felt headbands. you can just buy those skinny ones and then cute out flower and leave shapes and sew them on...in cute patterns and clusters of course. i know someone who makes them and they're adorable. sadly i'm lame and can't sew. i even have the felt for the projects hoping that one day i'll learn.

oh...and p.s. the mailbox thing is so much fun. i found it at michael's craft store. they have them right now for like $2 or $3 for valentine's day. it's even got a little flag so you know to check for mail :).

hope you're having a good day!

  5. Lauren, you're so funny, but I'm sure you've heard that before! Lucky for me, Michael's was already in my plans for tomorrow, so I'm going to add the mailbox to my list. Have a good Friday!

  9. I love it. I like that it is simple. There's so much beauty in simplicity, it seems like everyone tries to give everything some "bling" but it's not always a good thing. I won't lie, I do love sparkly things, but this doesn't need it. Seriously, I'm in love, and I wouldn't change one thing.
