do you still use film? what are your favorite cameras? in a land of no money and endless rainbows, i'd have a collection of half frame cameras, a diana mini (yes, i'm the last person on the planet not to have one) and all the free film developing i could ask for. but since stores like to be paid for their products and services, i'll keep saving my spare pennies to continue to grow my film camera collection!so what are your plans for this weekend? tomorrow we're going to our friends' house to meet up with our other friend couple for what the other chris has dubbed, "mexican fun night." i'm sure it won't disappoint, and i'll try to take some pictures of the insanity that will surely ensue.
Well, I'm pretty sure that first picture proves that the cost of developing a roll of film is totally worth it! I have a Golden Half half-frame camera. Cheaper than the Diana Mini and has a hot shoe attachment for most any flash you've got. Can't wait to see more of your pictures!

I love using film. There's something so wonderful about developing a roll and not knowing what you're going to get. I use my mom's old Nikon N2000. I love using the same camera that she used to photograph my brother and I when we were kids.

ReplyDeletei have a great little camera collection - a 1918 brownie that i should pull out again. i love film and i love the weird looks i get from the 16-year-old girls at the drugstore counter when i tell them i would like to develop a roll.
ReplyDeleteIn the end all those pretty photos are worth it though, aren't they? Sure it's probably more expensive than digital (although I got my cameras for 15 bucks maximum each vs. a good few hundred for my digital ones...) but the feeling is different.

hahaha, you are most certainly not the last person on the planet to have a diana mini. they're neat little things, but considering most of my cameras i have inherited, justifying spending that kind of money on a camera baffles me, haha. my dad's given me two film cameras, a canon which is now in need of repair and a nikon 20/20 which i adore, it's my favorite. then my grandpa gave me a canon which i'm still getting used to and learning how to use.
ReplyDeleteeven though it can be more money consuming, you should get a photo cd next time you get your film developed. i do it just to save the time and now also for the reason of my scanner being a brat and not cooperating all the time, haha.
your photos are splendid, i esp. love the one of the birds-nest most though, so simple and the tones are lovely. :]
i love film so much! i collect film cameras, and i have two SLRs, 7 or 8 vintage/thrifted cameras, a supersampler and a diana mini. i just got the mini for christmas and i haven't finished a roll yet! i wish i could take more photos, but youre right, it's an expensive hobby!

Your photos are lovely, and I'm especially digging the bird's nest! I just started photography school and we are beginning with film, and boy, are you right, it adds up quick! But it definitely has it's own unique feel. Worth every penny if you ask me!

How come I JUST saw this post?! I really AM out of it on the weekends... I love those photos! I have a roll that I'm SO afraid to develop from when I was in France/Spain. I'm not sure what's on the roll & I'm afraid to see if any of them will turn out. But I still adore using film. I have a pentax that I like to use that's older than I am. It's an old school .35mm & I love it. My mom used to use it before digital came out & we still use it every to often. =)

ReplyDeleteLove these photos. I also love shooting many pictures with an actual film camera. I use a Minolta SR101. I took some lovely photos while traveling in Guatemala over the summer and they are 100% better than any digital picture I've ever taken. Love the blog! xoxo
