i survived...

...the cage of death. I have no idea what the ride was called, but boy am I glad it's over! Chris suggested that we ride to the carnival that was passing through town, and anytime I get a chance to ride "the scrambler," I do! He was also the one to propose a ride on the spinning, twisting, upset-my-lo-mein-noodles-stomach ferris wheel on crack! Okay, so the big wheel went round and round, but each of those cars also spun around with a steering wheel that was inside. I like spinning just as much as any 7-year-old, but I think even that was a little much!

In addition to the carnival, I got the heads up from a friend on a J. Crew sample sale (and I scored jeans, shirts, and two bikinis). I probably could have stayed all day, but I'd venture to say that Chris wouldn't have been so happy. I'll see if I can get some pictures of my favorite new bathing suit, but I will NOT be modeling it!

Saturday was spent at my little sister's graduation, then at my pop's house for the after party. My family is crazy, and while it may be wise to down a vallium ahead of time, they sure are fun to be around!

What's your favorite carnival ride or game? And did you do anything special this weekend!

  5. Matt loves those crazy carnival rides. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with the spinning bears/strawberries (i've seen both) so I steer clear of anything that spins too much, but I do love the swinging boat! I also used to love the swings but my fear of heights has gotten the best of me :(

JCrew sample sale sounds like my dream day. Jealous!

  6. Lately, I've been all about the roller coasters. I blame my boyfriend -- he turned me from a wuss into a theme park junkie. (But I kinda like it. :D)

  8. OH MAN, I recently went on the scrambler for the first time . . . geez Louise that shit is crazy! All my neighbors and I went to the fair, and two of them were rambling on and on about how the scrambler is the best ride . . . so of course I had to try it. Not sure if the adrenaline rush is worth the jerky nausea, haha!

  9. I took my mom to a carnival two years ago on mothers day. I rode all the rides I used to ride when I was a teen. My motion sickness must have got worse because I got soo sick. Somehow I kept on riding rides with my mom cause she was having so much fun. Eventually I called it quits and was out the rest of the day. If I could chose between feeling like that again or letting someone break my finger, I would take the finger! No more carnival rides for me.

  10. Your description of that ride made me laugh so much.
my favorite carnival ride when I was little, was kind of like what you described, but less spinning.

OH! No! My favorite was this one that would spin around so fast that you'd get stuck to walls of the ride, so everyone would jump and stick to walls.

It was so good. :) and possibly very unsafe

  13. i LOVE the scrambler. it was always so fun to not be in the "squish" side. we show calves so we basically grew up at county fairs. riding the rides was a rare treat.

  14. I normally love the zipper, but the last time I went on it was when Andy and I first met and they carni guy thought it would be funny to spin us from the start... Needless to say the ending was not so good. We both made it off the ride with out throwing up, but there was a moment on the way home were we had to stop on the side of the road... And we haven't been back on since! So sad!!!

  17. Hahah! I can't help but laugh at this. We rode something similar like this at Disneyland, with Hanako and Carly (other bloggers) and they were screaming the whole time, too funny!
I love love Carnivals, but I hate the idea of carnies taking care of huge pieces of metal in the air -_-
