grandma and i spent the day together on saturday, and while i was looking forward to seeing her and doing whatever it was we were going to be doing, i was not looking forward to getting dressed. i felt crampy and bloated and uncomfortable, and nothing but sweatpants are comfortable at times like that. so naturally i chose the skinniest jeans known to man. naturally. oh yeah, and i actually straightened my hair for the occasion, so that's a pretty big deal.
jacket: american eagle // shirt: thrifted // jeans: old navy, gift from beca // clogs: lotta from stockholm // bag: vintage, thrifted // sunglasses: tumbleweeds handcraft
although super skinny rockstar cut jeans may not be the first thing most people would go to on crampy, bloated days, i realized something: i may be feeling fat and miserable and moody (thanks, hormones) before i get dressed, but once i put them on and see that they still fit just like they did a few days ago when i wasn't feeling like i'd gained 100 pounds overnight, i feel a little bit better - almost like a confidence boost. so next time i'm feeling like that, i'm not bothering with my stretchy leggings and a loose tunic (because that won't help make me feel any less huge), i'm going straight for my skinniest jeans.
do you ever have to trick yourself into feeling better? what do you do?
also, don't forget about two awesome happenings: first, be sure to enter the TUMBLEWEEDS GIVEAWAY to get your hands on a pair of the danielle clubmaster sunglasses like i'm wearing i nthe pictures! second, don't forget to reserve your spot at the SOUTHERN BLOGGER MIXER happening later this month in chattanooga!

You look so darling. I'm impressed (and a little jealous) that you look that cute on crampy, bloated days. I like the idea of tricking yourself into not feeling gross, though--I'm gonna have to work on that.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I always feel relieved when my skinny jeans fit when I'm feeling like that! I don't immediately go for them, but maybe I'll try next time.
ReplyDeleteThis all backfires though when you try to put on your skinniest pants and they really don't fit (true story). Then you just end up throwing your whole wardrobe on the floor and eating junior mints on the bed.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you, on days I'm feeling crappy I'm inclined to hit all the baggy, stretchy stuff but it kinda just confirms that I'm having an off day and keeps me in the blah zone...if I make a little more of an effort with a little less spandex, I usually start to snap-to a little quicker!
ReplyDeleteyou look great in those jeans! i hate that feeling though, i just want to wear dresses so i can let my tummy feel freeeeeee! but that isn't always the case. oh well what is a girl to do. i do trick myself a lot especially right now. i just keep thinking the same thing over and over in my head. it does really help and then i fall asleep, the next day begins and i don't remember the stupid thing i was feeling :)

I'd be happy to come over and make you feel better, wink wink
ReplyDeleteyou look adorable! i'm having one of those weeks right now and opted for leggings today.... but i think tomorrow i will try skinny jeans! xo
ReplyDeletewhen I'm feeling like that I usually got for an empire waist dress so as to mask my bloated belly but maybe next time I will reach for my skinny jeans...maybe
ReplyDeleteso so true. I always want to pull sweatpants on when I feel that way...but it is helpful to know that everyone else can't even see a difference. its all about perspective.
ReplyDeletei think you look GREAT in your jeans!

Hey that's actually a good idea... Haha ;) Love it! I get into those moods all the time (even though I know I'm no where near fat) Why do we do that to ourselves?!
