grunge, sort of.

the 90's make me think of combat boots, flannel shirts, ditsy floral jumpers, pearl jam, and smashing pumpkins.  i actually loved the 90's, and even though it was when my parents got divorced and i moved to godforsaken pennsylvania, it was also the time i made the best friends of my life, had my first kiss, and started to discover who i was.  maybe that's why dresses like this hold a special sort of nostalgia for me...

is there a certain period of time that's significant to you?  and were you a grunge kid in the 90's too?  i definitely was, and the frowning visceral response i got from my mom each day after getting dressed in my band t-shirt, cut-off shorts, and doc martens boots was reason enough to be grunge.  i mean, isn't the responsibility of any pre-teen gruge kid to rebel against what their parents like?  i did it like a pro.

i hope you guys have a good weekend!  one of my best friends will be in town this weekend, so i know it'll be great!

  4. The dress looks great on you!
I've been channelling the 90s recently. Goth black dresses with cutouts at the shoulders.

  5. I was too young to be grunge, sadly, and my family listened to shitty country music so that's all I saw of the 90s. Rob's been educating me on how magical a time it was.

  6. You look so cute in this outfit, girl! :D Growing up, I had literally no style. I wore over-sized t-shirts and polyester pants. I just had no interest in dressing myself. When I was 13, I received my first pair of jeans from my big sister Patty for Christmas, and that's also when Jen and I met and I started discovering who I was. I started wearing jeans that were tight enough to show that yes, I had a body, but appropriate enough that I didn't look like a tramp! I started wearing t-shirts that were the right size, and were cute and my style has grown since than into the randomness that is now (girly-girl, cowgirl, goth, hippie, etc. in one.)

  7. I also gotta say, my mother was an artist and I had nothing I could rebel on, she was so open minded! I actually asked if she minded that I dressed goth from time to time, because it's been a passion of mine for years and she told me that she didn't, but no one's opinion should matter and I should dress as light, or as dark, as gothic or as preppy, etc. as I wanted.
